Huntington Beach Notification Service Frequently Asked Questions



How do I login to my account?
  1. Login to http://www.huntingtonbeachca.gov/hbnotify
  2. In the main screen there is a Login section on the right-hand side.
    1. Type in your username in the Username text box.
    2. Type in your password in the Password text box.
    3. Click on the Login button.
How do I change an alert setting?
  1. You must be logged in (see How do I Login to my account?)
  2. In the Alerts Setting tab, click on the “Choose” link to choose the alert you would like to enable/disable. The Notification Options frame will be expanded to display several options
    1. To enable/disable on the selected alert (Enabled checkbox)
      1. Place a tick on the Enabled checkbox to enable the alert by clicking on the checkbox OR Remove a tick on the Enabled checkbox by clicking on the checkbox.
      2. Click on the Save button.
    2. To change how you like to receive notification on the selected alert (How would you like to receive the notification? options)
      1. If you like to receive/remove your notification via SMS (aka Text Messaging) place a tick on the SMS (aka Text Messaging) checkbox to enable the alert by clicking on the checkbox OR remove a tick on the SMS (aka Text Messaging) checkbox by clicking on the checkbox until the check is not shown.
      2. If you like to receive/remove your notification via Email place a tick on the Email checkbox to enable the alert by clicking on the checkbox OR remove a tick on the Email checkbox by clicking on the checkbox until the check is not shown.
      3. Click on the Save button
    3. To change days in advance you would like to receive your notification (How many day(s) in advance you would like to receive the alert? Option). Note: This option may or may not be enabled based on the pre-configured alert setting by us.
      1. In the day(s) text box type in the number of days.
      2. Click on the Save button.
    4. To monitor a specific location (This notification is location specific. Please click here add address(es) option). Note: This option may or may be available based on the pre-configured alert setting by us. Currently this is only available for Street Sweeping notification.
      1. Click on the here hyperlink in “Please click here to add address(es)“ . A grid with Street Number and Street Name is provided for you to type in the street number and street name fields.
      2. Type in your street number
      3. Type in a street name (If you type in a partial street name a drop down will be provided for you to select all available street names in the City of Huntington Beach).
      4. Click on the Save button
How do I change my account settings (for all alerts)
  1. You must be logged in (see How do I Login to my account?)
  2. Click on the Account tab.
    1. To change your first name or last name
      1. Type in any alphanumeric character in the First Name or Last Name textbox.
      2. Click on the Save button.
    2. To change the Security Question (Security Question option). Note: This is used when you need a new random generated password sent to you in case you ever forget your password
      1. If you have chosen to receive SMS (aka Text Messaging) from step 3b above, then the Cell Phone text box and Cell Phone Carrier dropdown list box will appear. Type in your cell number and choose the provider that provided the cell phone service to you in the corresponding boxes.
      2. If you have chosen to receive Email from step 3b above, then the Email textbox will appear. Type in your valid email address (eg, jdoe@gmail.com).
    3. To change days in advance you would like to receive your notification (How many day(s) in advance you would like to receive the alert? Option). Note: This option may or may not be enabled based on the pre-configured alert setting by us
      1. In the Question dropdown list box, choose one of the available questions.
      2. In the Answer textbox type in the answer.
      3. Click on the Save button.
    4. To change your password (Password Change option)
      1. To change your password (Password Change option).
      2. Type in your new in the Password textbox.
      3. Re-type your new password in the Re-type Password textbox.
      4. Click on the Save button.
How do I view past alerts?
  1. You must be logged in (see How do I Login to my account?)
  2. Click on the Past Alerts tab.
    1. An available list of past alerts will be displayed that were delivered to you.
